Opinion: Should schools reopen?

Updated: Sep 18, 2020

As coronavirus has ignited many debate topics and one of them is, children going back to school during the height of the global pandemic. There are oppositions both with reasonable and viable arguments. But is it worth it risking your children during coronavirus?

In this article, we will investigate the reasons why children should go to school now or be ready for an online school.

Coronavirus was abrupt and disturbed our daily routine schedule which seemed boring before COVID-19 but now we understand its value in our lives and we should be grateful for that. Whether it was going out in the evenings and eating fast-food or it was going to school by waking up early and eating breakfast in a hurry. All of us have missed our normal schedule terribly. But as this coronavirus tests our patience, we shall not allow it to kill our loved ones by our resistance to not wearing masks. It is important to coordinate with billions of people globally who are also suffering through this pandemic. Some businesses have bright ideas but were laden down by the global recession. Thousands of people are dying with what we call just flu.

It is irrational that we want people to go back to school. Yes, they want to obtain practical knowledge and meet their friends. But infecting ourselves in coronavirus will eventually lead to affecting everyone in our community. There are university students who miss their normal classes yet interesting but are unaware that they can be the victims of this deadly global pandemic. There are multiple reports in which the young population is dying of coronavirus. While schools are finding ways to maintain their quality education for which they are paid for. The age of 55 is a mediocre age of professors in universities. This means not doing online education might affect your professors largely. Think about our healthcare workers who are on the front lines and are impacted because of our reluctance to accept the risks of not following the COVID-19 guidelines.

Online education is insatiable to us since we couldn’t ask questions often during live sessions, we couldn’t just understand via online sessions because there are glitches or interruptions in between, or we can’t obtain the best practical knowledge as possible.

Excellent reading. Your selection of topic and reading makes it a very pertinent in today's context. The students and parent are in a fix, how would they allow sending their kids to school when the pandemic is on a rampage surge all around. I think online education should become a way of life until we have found a perfect solution to this biggest ever pandemic. Thank you.
