As President Trump announced his 3-phase plan to recover our economy, the lockdown procedure will start to ease. Restaurants, cinemas, and sporting venues can reopen soon if they are viewing strict social distancing. It is unclear about when it is going to start as the cases could reach peak anytime. So far, it is May 1st, 2020.
The Three Phase Plan:
Phase One: Spots like cinemas, sports venues, places of worship and restaurants can reopen if they are observing and using strict social distancing measures.
Phase Two: Schools and institutions can reopen. Walking in parks is allowed, participating in outdoor recreational and nonessential travel activities will not be constrained. There will be given a message given to the owners of the restaurants to regulate the number of occupants
Phase Three: This is the phase where everything goes back to normal. The most vulnerable people will still be advised or recommended to stay at home.
Today, in this article we will explore three questions(Based on the color, the questions and the answer have the same color):
Is it ethical for the federal government to risk lives of the hourly wage earners to work in this crisis even with the precautions?
How can social distancing be applied to the most congested areas?
And how can reopening the economy affect the U.S. and the global economy both in positive and negative aspects?
Through my perspective, it is unethical for us to rely on the hourly workers to get our economy back on track. "If we don't take care of the hourly wage workers, then there is no economy", said by one of the most successful entrepreneurs, Mark Cuban. But, not everyone has a luxury to work at home. Which everyone is not privileged with. So reopening the economy might be the only option left.
While social distancing can be done(six feet apart), it can decrease the probability of new cases being instigated. It could be done in cinemas by making the gap between the seats, six feet. And doing the same in sporting venues where selling tickets to less people to make the location less crowded. So, as I stated in my previous article, this is the new way of living life and will include many adjustments. So we have to be flexible to attain this type of lifestyle which might be frustrating but we have to get through it and stay positive.
The positive impact would be that the everyone starts getting employed, if they are temporarily on a leave due to these circumstances. Major restaurant chains can open throughout the country. Which can decrease the unemployment rate. The negative impact would be that health could still be at a risk and there could be an increase in the number of cases of COVID 19. Optimism is the best way to stay positive and battle our fear regarding the future. No one know what it is. I recommend, live in the present!
