During explicitly detrimental protests happening across the nation for George Floyd, there is an extremely proud accomplishment or a milestone achieved for the African American community. General Charles Q. Brown has been elected as a new Air Force chief of staff and he is the first African American military chief. A chief of staff is a military advisor to the president, national security council, and is the principal advisor to the US Air Force
. He was nominated for this eminent position on March 2, 2020. But after Senator Dan Sullivan delayed the Senate vote for the newly-nominated chief of staff, he was confirmed with the prestigious title on June 9. After 36 years of Gen. Brown's experience in the Air Force, he has felt like an outsider in the U.S Air Force since his race was a minority in the Air Force. He was always expected to perform "error-free" and was expected less of him from his mentors because he was an African American, he said by addressing the people through a video(Click on here for the video).
He is currently a Pacific Commander leading as a commander of 46,000 airmen who are serving across the Pacific Ocean which includes Alaska, South Korea, Japan, Guam, and Hawaii. Gen. Brown has not only defeated the odds of being the first black military service officer but also has proved the impossible by making history.
